The Universe By Ear - I, LP

Already with their 2017 album debut, the Basel-based formation The Universe By Ear made a brilliant, highly acclaimed entry into the international rock scene. Now the power trio consisting of guitarist Stefan Strittmatter, bassist Pascal Grünenfelder (who are both also active in the Basel cult band Fido Plays Zappa) and Beni Bürgin (drums) presents its second longplayer.

On their eponymous album, the perfectly rehearsed, experimental band presents a brilliant mix of alternative/progressive rock and psychedelia and also convinces on the complex, yet always catchy compositions, with refined arrangements, virtuosic (together) playing and inspired improvisations.

So it's not surprising that their multi-faceted "psychedelic brain blues" (The Universe By Ear) has already been compared by critics with The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In, Tool or King Crimson in terms of sound.
